Come out with the hair you asked for.

Every colour service starts with a consultation and a number, both before anything is mixed. What we use on you is written down, so the visit after this one matches the one you liked.

How a visit works

The consultation is part of the appointment, not a sales pitch.

Most of what goes wrong in a salon goes wrong in the first ten minutes — a photo one person reads as caramel and the other reads as blonde, on hair that will not get there in one sitting. So we do that part slowly, out loud, and with a price attached.

01

We look at your hair first

Bring photos of what you want and, if you have them, photos of colour you have hated. Your stylist checks condition, previous colour and how much of it is still sitting in the ends, then says what is reachable today and what needs a second visit.

02

You get the number before we start

Colour on long or dense hair uses more product and more chair time than the starting price on our list. You hear your figure, and any add-on you might want, before a bowl is mixed. Change your mind at that point and there is nothing to pay.

03

Your formula goes on file

Developer, tone, timing and placement are written on your card at the end of the appointment. If your usual stylist is booked or has moved on, whoever takes the chair is working from what was actually done, not from memory.

In the chair

A cut you can dry yourself on a Tuesday morning.

A shape that only works when a professional holds the brush is not finished work. Before you leave, your stylist shows you how the cut falls with your own routine — the products you already own, the amount of time you actually have, and the way you part it when nobody is watching.

If you want the salon blow-dry as well, that is a service on the list and it is priced there. It is never quietly added to a cut.

Colour prices assume hair around shoulder length in reasonable condition. Longer, denser or previously coloured hair takes more product and more time, and your stylist quotes that figure at the consultation — before anything is mixed. A gift card can be bought for any amount at the front desk.

Stylist

Qualified and taking clients. Full cutting and colour training, working alongside a senior on corrective and complex colour work.

Senior

Five years or more on the floor. Takes complex colour, restyles and most corrective work on their own.

Director

Runs a section and trains the floor. Books further out. Takes the corrective colour nobody else wants to touch.

Colour

Three ways people usually arrive.

Almost every colour appointment we book starts as one of these. Knowing which one you are makes the consultation shorter and the quote more accurate.

A knot of auburn hair twisted back from the sides

Keeping a colour you already like

Root colour, a gloss to bring the tone back, and a trim. The formula on your card is what keeps this from drifting a half-shade every visit until it is a colour you never chose.

Root colour from $95

Going lighter, gradually

Balayage or highlights, painted to grow out without a hard line. If the photo you brought is three sittings away from where your hair is now, we will say so and map out the sittings.

Balayage from $210
Loose lightened hair, dry and flyaway through the ends

Fixing something that went wrong

Banding, brassy ends, a box colour that has stopped lifting. Corrective work is charged by the hour because nobody can honestly price it from a text message — including us.

Straight answers

Four things we will tell you no about.

Saying yes to all of these is how a salon gets a five-star morning and a client who never comes back.

Platinum in one sitting on box-dyed hair

It can sometimes be done. It usually costs you the ends. We will show you the two-visit version and what your hair looks like in between.

A colour quote over text

Photos flatten tone and hide regrowth. We will book you a free fifteen-minute consultation instead, and you can have the number then.

A cut on hair that needs a treatment first

If the condition will not hold the shape, the shape will not last a fortnight. We would rather move you to a treatment now and cut properly next time.

Squeezing a full head into a root slot

Rushed colour is the colour people bring us to correct. If the booking is too short for the work, we will move it rather than start it.

A facial treatment in progress in a quiet treatment room
Treatment room

A door that closes, at the back of the salon.

Facials, scalp rituals and brow work happen in their own room with its own door — not behind a curtain on the salon floor with a dryer running two feet away. It is the quietest part of the building and it is booked separately from the chairs.

Colour clients often book the scalp and neck ritual into the processing time, so the forty minutes you would otherwise spend on your phone becomes part of the appointment. Ask the front desk to stack them when you book.

The floor

Who you would be sitting with.

Book by name if you have someone, or tell the front desk what you want done and they will put you with whoever does most of it.

Before you come

The practical part.

The questions the front desk answers most often, so you do not have to ring to ask them.

Do I need a deposit?

Colour appointments over ninety minutes hold a $40 deposit, taken when you book and deducted from the final bill. Cuts, blow-dries and treatments do not.

What if I need to move my appointment?

Move or cancel up to 24 hours before and the deposit carries to the new date. Inside 24 hours it covers the chair time we could not fill. If you are unwell, ring us — we would rather move you.

Do I need a patch test?

Yes for any colour service, and it has to be at least 48 hours before your appointment. It takes two minutes at the front desk. First-time colour clients who skip it cannot be coloured on the day.

Should I wash my hair first?

Come with day-old hair for colour. For a cut it does not matter — we will wash it here. Do not straighten it before a curly cut; we need to see how it actually behaves.

Can you cut children's hair?

From eight years old, booked into a dry trim slot. Younger than that, we will happily point you at somewhere set up for it.

Is the salon accessible?

Street-level entry with no step, and one chair with clearance either side. The treatment room is on the same floor. Tell the front desk when you book and it will be held for you.
