Week 2 of 8 · Still Becoming
Five short mornings with God. Last Sunday we asked: what will someone else carry home because of you? We can't control what's said to us — but we can decide what our words leave in someone else. This week, speak life to five people. Less than one a day.
“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
In Christ your mouth has been handed back to you new. The same lips that once leaked complaint can now carry courage. You don’t have to be clever — just willing to let one true, kind word out today. God isn’t asking you to perform; He’s inviting you to overflow.
Send it
I can’t control what’s said to me — I decide what someone leaves with.
Step: Text one person a single honest sentence — “I thank God for you because…”
Prayer: Lord, make my mouth new today. Let what I say build somebody up.
“So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus… has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’”
Ananias saw a man who had hunted believers. God saw a chosen instrument. Before Saul could see again, he heard a believer call him family — Brother. Ananias didn’t create Saul’s future with those words; God did. He simply trusted God enough to speak grace before he could see the result. You can too. Speak the blessing; leave the outcome to God.

Send it
Speak grace before you see the result.
Step: Call someone (voice, not text) and name one way you see God at work in them.
Prayer: Father, give me eyes that see people the way You see them — and courage to say it out loud.
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” … “He will take delight in you with gladness… He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
We’ve been learning to speak life to others. But some of us save our harshest words for ourselves. You would never call a friend what you call yourself in your own head. God doesn’t call you those names either. Over you — today, as you are — He is not scowling. He is singing. Let His voice be louder than your accuser. You cannot pour out life you refuse to receive.

Send it — to yourself first
God speaks no condemnation over me. I can too.
Step: Catch one harsh sentence you say about yourself. Say instead: “In Christ, there is no condemnation for me.”
Prayer: Lord, quiet the voice that accuses me. Teach me to speak to myself the way You do.
“Don’t be selfish… Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”
This week someone did this for us. Carolyn and I received a message from a friend who simply named what she was grateful for — our friendliness, our kindness. It wasn’t flattery; it was true, and it landed. That’s the aim: not invented praise, but honest words that see the real person in front of you. Look up from your own concerns today and notice who God has placed nearby.
Send it
True words, not flattery — send them with something real.
Step: Face to face, give someone a specific, honest blessing — something you’ve actually seen God grow in them.
Prayer: Lord, lift my eyes off myself. Show me who’s in front of me, and give me a true word for them.
“May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.”
The oldest words of blessing in Scripture — a priest sending God’s people out with God’s face turned toward them. You are sent the same way. You carry a face that can shine on someone who feels unseen. By now you may have spoken life to four people this week. There’s one more — and it could be a stranger.
Send it
Someone leaves lighter because God’s face shone through me.
Step: Bless a stranger — a word of kindness that means it — completing your five.
Prayer: Lord, send me today. Let someone walk away lighter because Your face shone on them through me.
